Phone Charging Slowly? Safe Checks Before Requesting Repair
Check the socket, charger, cable, charging port, temperature and battery settings safely before requesting a phone repair assessment.
Try a known-working wall socket and a compatible charger and cable, let the phone cool, restart it and inspect the charging port without inserting metal or liquid. Slow charging can come from the power source, cable, adapter, debris, temperature, software, battery condition or charging circuit. Stop charging if the phone is swollen, unusually hot, smells odd or has liquid damage.
Start with the power source and accessories
Connect directly to a known-working wall socket instead of a loose extension board or low-power computer port. Check the adapter and cable for cuts, bent connectors, discoloration or unusual heat. Use accessories that meet the phone maker’s stated charging specification; a matching connector does not always mean matching power support.
